Ben Rhydding
2nd XI 2-1
Otliensians 1st XI
In this their first game of the weekend Otliensians faced a
very organised Ben Rhydding side. Otliensians tack ticks of
a containment game paid off as their defence worked tirelessly
against a torrid Rhydding attack. The only goal came mid-way
through the first half for Rhydding, this only spurd on Otliensians
who started to build on good defensive work through midfield
and attack. Julia Ratahi found space on the right and linked
well with Zoe Coates and Sarena Corney but unfortunately couldn't
find the back of the net. The second half was much like the
first a very tight affair. Rhdding pushed forward only to be
thwarted by the defence of Maggie Simpson, Dani Cox and Amy
Rawson and some excellant saves by man of the match Tracy Hellewell
in goal. Towards the end Otliensians got a break away and forced
a corner only for the shot to go wide. A good performance by
Otliensians but unlucky not to get a result for all their supporters. |
Leeds Uni 2nd
XI 0-6
Otliensians 1st XI
In their last game of the season
Otliensians travelled to Harrogate last Sunday. Knowing a win
would draw them level on points with Adel, Otliensians had to
score 8 to keep them in the league. They started well with good
surging runs from Becky Caisley and Sarena Corney making the
Harrogate keeper work hard. The scoring was opened by Sarena
Corney closely followed by a tap in by Alex Jewell. Otliensians
were in thier stride now and looked like scoring every time
they went forward, corney scored again before half time to take
it to 3-0.
The second half started in the same vien for the visitors in
rampant attact. The forth was scoredby Jewell who pushed the
ball home after some penetrating work on the right by Zoe Coates.
The next 2 goals came in quick succession from Becky Caisley
and Sarena Corney. Man of the match Laura Tweddle had a goal
dissallowed near the end making the final score 6-0. This was
Otliensians best result of the season but tinged with dissapointnent
as they dropped down on goal difference, on reflection Otliensians
have applied themselves well in the premier league and hope
to bounce straight back.

Leeds Uni 1st XI
3-1
Otliensians 1st XI
After a thursday night defeat to Wakefield and picking up
some injuries to players, Otliensians visiited a youthful
Leeds Uni side who were going for promotion. It was a case
of damage limitation for the visiting side as Otliensians
face a relegation battle with Adel therefore goal difference
counts. Otliensians started the game with a player short but
defencively found their feet and with good guidence from sweeper
Dani Cox maintained the home side. Tireless work from man
of the match Becky Caisley in midfield releived the pressure
but Leeds were soon on the score sheet through a short corner.
Once back to full strength Otliensians pushed forward and
ceated chances. Otliensians defence marked well and with some
excellant goal keeping by Tracy Hellewell the visitors only
let in another goal, half time 2-0.
Otliensians started the second half with abit of self belief
and sweeping one twos between Julia Ratahi and Becky Caisley
found them asking questions of the Leeds Uni defence. The
visitors gained a few short corners but were unable to convert.
Another excellant save from Hellewell only saw the rebound
go bobbling in. A through ball gave Otliensians their best
scoring chance when the ball bounced off the post fooling
the Uni keeper but unfortunately the Otiensians forwards wereless
quick to react. A reflex save by Maggie Simpson pushing the
ball over the bar kept Leeds from scoring again. Final score
3-0. A good team performance to take through to their final
weekend of games against rivals Ben Rhydding and bottom of
the table Harrogate,Otliensians will need some points out
of these games for their survival.

Otliensians
1st XI 2-5
Doncaster 2nd XI
Otliensians faced a very organised and fast Doncaster side last
saturday. Doncaster soon scored and Oltiensians feared the worse,
but managed to contain them with good defensive work by Dani
Cox and Michelle Reeve. Otliensians got into their stride and
put pressure on through sweeping moves by Serena Corney. Unfortunately
Doncaster scored just before half time taking it up 2-0. Otliensians
started the second half in a positive frame of mind surging
forward at every opportunity. An explosive run from Serena Corney
beating several defenders then found Jodi Rocket in space who
scored. An unfortunate decision let Doncaster in to make it
3-1 this is resulted in a lapse of concentration for Otliensians
who let in further goals. The homeside rallied towards the end
a gave a short corner which Dani Cox converted. Final score
5-2.

0-6
Boston Spa 1st XI
Otliensians entertained top
of the league Boston Spa. After recent wins Otliensians started
confidently, for the first 15 minutes the homeside contained
Boston Spa. A sloppy goal allowed the visitors to get into
their stride a second soon followed. Otliensians dug deep
and flowing moves through opposition man of the match Becky
Caisley created chances. Otliensians defense were under pressure,
but man of the match Dani Cox kept them at bay. In the second
half Boston Spa were rampent. Chances were few and far between
for Otliensians with a Serena Corney cross travelling right
across the face of goal eluding the forwards. Valiant efforts
in goal by Tracey Hellewell were unrewarded as Boston got
a few more goals.
Final scoree 0-6. Otliensians visit Leeds 1 on Saturday for
hopefully a repeat performance.

furious. Leeds really came at the homeside and scored fairly
soon. Thinking they were in for a heavy defeat Oltiensians

many of the Leeds attacks and Caisley and Corney combined
well upfront backing each other up and making goal scoring

from a darting run by Julia Ratahi up the right for Simpson
to take into the circle whos crossed was saved only for Tweedle

After several weeks off due to the bad weather and a frustrating

started shakily thus allowing Wakefield to score. After this

On a very wet and blustery day Otley entertained Harrogate 2.

the net. Otley's second came from persistant play by Julia Ratahi
on the right who crossed the ball for Hayley Robinson to slap
the ball home. Otley were now on the rampage, their 3rd was
slotted home at close range by Claire Brook off another pinpointed
cross by Ratahi. Their 4th came just before half time after
